Chilean Adventure, Part II

3/6/2020

Hola! After departing for Santiago, we made our way to Easter Island.  As some of you may know, this is the site of the famous Moai heads. Archaeologists have document approx. 887 Moai, but believe that at one point there could have been upwards of a 1,000. These impressive sculptures were carved by the Rapa Nui people between the years of 1250 and 1500 C.E.

After marveling at these impressive monolithic statues, we traveled to Tierra del Fuego to visit some smartly dressed friends - the King Penguin.

Did you know that King Penguins are monogamous? Also, when an egg is laid by the female, both mates will take turns incubating it throughout the long 14-16 months.

Stay tuned for our next post - where we visit Torres del Paine, National Park to see the Pumas.
