In late 2019, Lisa and I traveled to our next wildlife and cultural destination - Chile. Our plane touched down in Santiago, the area which was the center stage for a civil protest against the increased subway fares, cost of living, privatization and inequality in the country. After a night of rest, Lisa and I wondered into the downtown core, where we noticed the majority of the protests were being held. Many people were gathered in the Plaza Baquedano, commonly known as Plaza Italia, which is a major landmark in Santiago, Chile.

During this uprising, we were able to see parts of Santiago and other neighboring towns, which showcased some beautiful murals on the sides of buildings.
We said "adiós" to Santiago and made out way to our next destination - Easter Island! Check in soon for Part Two of our Chilean Adventure.
